Just returned from a nice 3 day... up to and back from Cambria Calif.
Weather was perfect tho a bit on the cool side. Friday afternoon riding up from Ventura. Uneventful. The heavy winds predicted in the Santa Barbara and Gaviota area's did not amount to anything.
Arrived in Cambria just after dark... 55 degrees.
Up Saturday morning and met the riding group from TORC, Thousand Oaks Riding Club. 7:30 am it was 37 degrees! Warmed up to a brisk 49 after breakfast and our departure to tour the area at 9:00. Eleven bikes in the group. A great run. Plenty of back country roads around that area. The sky's were clear and sun shining. All day it stayed in the 40's to 50's.
"Secret to winter riding in So. Cal." ............. electric gear! We really had a good chance to test out our Tourmaster Synergy heated gear this weekend. Karin has the jacket liner and I the heated vest with collar. The low settings were all we needed, as the ride was pleasant and enjoyable, even at highway speeds and the chill of Paso Robles. Good stuff.
Sunday morning we left the main group to their taking Hwy 101 south and took the Hwy 166 near NApomo to Tepesque Canyon Rd. to Foxin Canyon to Los Alivos and finally Hwy 154 to 101 home. If you are ever in the area, try to take a ride on Tepesque. It is fresh pavement and a scenic country road that has become one of my favorites! Absolutely beautiful!
So now I'm back home and thinking about the next ride - trip!
It's all good.
